The photogravure is one of the oldest form of photographic printmaking. With a nod to both photography and printmaking, Eddie chose this process not just for its "hands on" involvement, but because the sum of its parts - soft focus imagery, rich tonal depth, warm color inks, and natural-fiber papers creates a piece that talks of nostalgia and place. Eddie makes his photogravures by burning the photographic image onto an intaglio plate which he then inks, cleans and pulls by hand onto Hahnemuhle Copperplate warm white paper using a Takach printmaking press. Most of the gravures are 5 1/2 by 7 inches top centered on 16 by 20 inch paper. The photogravures are offered in editions of twenty-five. Prices start at $400.00 and increase as the edition sells. Please inquire about the current number and price of the print you are interested in. |
